The Israeli Liga Leumit (Hebrew: הליגה הלאומית, HaLiga HaLeumit, lit. 'National League') is the second division of the professional Israeli association football (soccer) league system. This 2ⁿᵈ tier league is placed right below the Israeli Premier League.

History

Liga Leumit came into existence at the start of the 1955–56 season, replacing Liga Alef as the top division in Israeli football. However, it was usurped as the top flight in the 1999–2000 season, when it was replaced by the Premier League. Since then it has operated as the second tier in the Israeli football league system.

Izraelská fotbalová liga Leumit Liga je druhou nejvyšší fotbalovou ligou v Izraeli po Premjer lize. Vznikla v roce 1951 pod názvem Liga Alef a v roce 2009 byla přejmenována na Leumit Liga. Ligy se účastní 16 týmů, které hrají dvoukolově každý s každým. První dva týmy postupují do Premjer ligy a poslední dva týmy sestupují do třetí ligy, Liga Arcit. Nejvíce titulů v historii Leumit Ligy získal tým Hapoel Kfar Saba (5).
